I do recommend reading Desmond Morris, he's always fun and informative. He changed my view of the world as a teenager, when I realized that humans are evolved creatures and our behavior can be understood based on that. Although he does sometimes strays a little bit into pseudo-science with some of the evolutionary psychology theories.
